Ministerial Disability Advisory Board

Our CEO, Pam Burgess, has been appointed as a member of the Brisbane Regional Disability Advisory Council.  This is a three-year appointment commencing 1 September.  The 10-member regional council  will represent the needs of people with a disability, their families and carers.  The council will advise the Minister for Disability Services (Curtis Pitt, MP) on a regional basis, provide the government with high-level advice on disability issues and represent the community's views.  It will play a key role in supporting the implementation and progression of the priorities of the 10-year strategic plan for disability which was launched at the Queensland Disability Forum in Cairns during Disability Action Week on 23 September.  The council will also have direct input into the Queensland Disability Advisory Council through its chair.

The council will assist the disability sector review and implement the exciting, significant reforms anticipated through the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
